After you complete your breakfast, you should begin your expedition towards Namche Bazaar, which is also referred to as the colorful gate of the Everest region. You will travel along the Dudh Koshi River, passing through the beautiful villages of Zamfute, Toktok, Benkar, Monjo, and Jorsalle, where you will have the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the region and the daily life of the local people. At Monjo, you enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich biodiversity, pristine forests, and spectacular Himalayan landscapes. During this journey, you also get a chance to cross various suspension bridges decorated with colorful prayer flags, including the well-known Tenzing-Hillary Suspension Bridge and the Larja Dobhan Bridge.
As you ascend further, you will come across pine and rhododendron forests, old mani walls, chortens, and viewpoints highlighting the distinct culture of the Everest region.
On clear days, the route presents you with the first look of Mount Everest, accompanied by the view of Thamserku, Kongde Ri, and Tabuche mountains. Finally, after hiking for a few more hours, you will get to Namche Bazaar, the principal trading center of Khumbu. Known as the “Sherpa Capital,” Namche houses hotels, coffee shops, bakeries, trekking stores, banks, internet, and health care facilities. Located in an amphitheater-like setting surrounded by snow-capped Himalayas, the town also organizes its traditional Saturday market. This marks centuries of trade in the region. You will be able to rest in your lodge and have dinner before spending the night in Namche Bazaar.
